For more than a decade Marc Garneau and his friendly and efficient administrative assistant Margaret Guest have supported the Shidokan Judo Club. As a sign of recognition and appreciation, Sensei Nakamura and Jean-Pierre Cantin presented Marc Garneau with an honorary black belt - Kosen Judo.
After the black belt presentation, we were eager to find out more about Marc Garneau's remarkable career highlights. Instead, Marc Garneau expressed his appreciation and admiration for Sensei Nakamura's contribution to the community and the development of Judo in Canada.
Rather than celebrating the appreciation he so much deserves, Marc Garneau has rather shed light on the Shidokan. What humility on his part despite a career full of great achievements.
In March 2023, the Honorable Marc Garneau announced his retirement from public life. His personal, professional and public accomplishments are remarkable and left an indelible mark on our country.
